     I was born and raised a small town, midwestern gal, but my heart was always drawn to the distant seas. After graduating college with a double major in foreign language and education, I embarked on a solo journey around the world for the next decade. I traveled to 76 countries and islands, living extended periods in isolated places working with indigenous peoples such as the Rapa Nui of Easter Island and the Matsiguenka of the Peruvian Amazon.

     If you're like me, after just one visit to Kona you will be so captivated by the views, intoxicated by the smells, and voluminous with 'aloha' that you will long to return, time and again.
